In New Jersey, minor offenses are categorized as “disorderly persons offenses” or “petty disorderly persons offenses.” These cases are heard in municipal courts located wherever the charges were filed. More serious charges, referred to as “indictable offenses” and graded as a first degree, second degree, third degree or fourth degree, are heard in County Superior Courts. Federal cases are heard in United States District Courthouses in Trenton, Camden, and Newark.
SOMERSET COUNTY COURTS
