Armed Robbery Charges Finally Issued for North Bergen Robbery
A twenty-five year old male from Roselle Park, New Jersey has formally been arrested and charged with among other things, armed robbery following an incident that dates back to last year. The Defendant is alleged to have robbed a eighteen year old North Bergen resident at gunpoint back on December 12, 2014. The item stolen from the teenager was an Iphone. Apparently, after committing the robbery, the Defendant placed the Iphone on Facebook for sale.
It appears that the North Bergen police were able to use the Hudson County Automated Licenses Plate Reader to help catch the Defendant. The Defendant has formally been charged with robbery in the first degree, unlawful possession of a weapon in the second degree and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the second degree. If convicted on all charges, the Defendant could decades behind bars. One the first degree armed robbery charge, the Defendant is facing up to twenty years in State prison alone. As if that is not bad enough, armed robbery also falls under the No Early Release Act, which requires Defendant’s to serve at least 85% of their sentence before they can even become eligible for parole.
