Unlawful Possession of a Weapon & Assault Charges Issued in North Bergen, NJ
A twenty-six year old Union City, New Jersey native has been arrested and charged with amongst other things aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon as the result of an incident that occurred on October 6, 2014 in North Bergen. According to the reports, the Defendant attacked another with a box cutter, leaving the victim with serious lacerations to his face and back. The victim was taken to Jersey City Medical Center as a result of the attack. It is unclear what started this altercation. The Defendant has formally been charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. The Defendant is currently being held in the Hudson County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bail. It was also reported that the Defendant has two active warrants for failure to appear, one out of Union City and the other out of Bass River Township. If convicted of all charges, the Defendant could face up to twenty plus years in a New Jersey State Prison.
