It is criminal to knowingly sell, make, exhibit or possess an insurance card that you know is simulated (i.e. fake, counterfeit, etc.). It is a third degree crime that carries up to 5 years in prison to sell or make fake insurance cards. Exhibiting a fraudulent card is a fourth degree crime that result result in 18 months in prison. Simple possession of this type of forged document is a disorderly persons offense.
